Primeros pasos en la serigrafía 🌿
After identifying local plants with strong dyeing potential, I began experimenting with the creation of lake pigments. The purpose of converting dyes into pigments lies in achieving more stable and versatile colour applications. Lake pigments are known for their vivid and intense hues, often bright and slightly transparent, making them suitable for inks and textiles.
Unlike dyes, they are insoluble, which allows them to be mixed into various mediums without dissolving. This also improves their lightfastness, helping the colours remain more resistant to fading over time.
My aim was to develop different types of inks for screen printing and to test them on cellulose-based textiles such as cotton and linen. At the same time, I experimented with mordants, both applied directly onto the fabric and incorporated into the ink itself. Some inks spread and bled into the material, while others created precise, clean lines. I am deeply fascinated by colour, and to achieve a richer and more diverse palette, I continue exploring the effects of pH variations.
