Materials: linen fabric woven by my great-grandmother, inherited fragments of embroidered traditional folk costume, roots embroidery & needle-felted letters
This time, I was reworking an old folk costume — that piece has quite a story behind it.
Natural pigments: indigo

During my FarmLab residency, I had the chance to work with the FarmLab indigo — the Japanese Persicaria tinctoria.

What fascinates me about indigo is that, unlike most natural dyes, there's no heat involved. The magic happens in the vat — the pigment is already extracted, and it's through fermentation and oxidation that this deep, beautiful blue appears.

I also explored a series of shibori tests as a way to honour the rich Japanese tradition behind it. The whole process felt like a slow alchemy — a kind of ceremony — and it really reflects how I like to approach textile making: with patience, care, and deep respect for the material.
